Bone Density Measurement

Bone Density Measurement
Bone density measurement devices consist of a table on which the patient lies, an X-ray source above, a detector below the table that performs the measurement, and a computer system that processes the information from the detector.
The amount of calcium – bone density – of the bone being measured is calculated from the difference between the X-rays emitted from the tube and the X-rays measured by the detector. Although there are different methods for bone density measurement, the best method has been reported to be dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA). Our center's DEXA system bone densitometer device can also measure the entire body fat percentage.
