Digital Radiography

Digital Radiography

  • Digital radiography (digital radiography / direct digital radiography) is a new and fast medical imaging method in which X-ray images using conventional old cassettes are transferred to a computer system simultaneously with the scan, without the cassette stage in between.
  • Images are obtained clearly and in high quality within seconds and are quickly evaluated by the physician on the computer screen.
  • Since chemical processing for film printing is not required, it is a safe and environmentally friendly method for technicians in terms of occupational health.

Advantages include;
  • Short duration of X-ray (radiation) exposure measurable in seconds,
  • Superior in displaying fine details,
  • Quick results since chemical processing for film printing is not required,
  • Ability to store images digitally in the PACS system for years and compare with previous images if needed,
  • Ability to electronically transmit results to the physician and patient (even those miles away) and obtain consultations from distant physicians,
  • Reduced need for retakes as images can be evaluated instantly,
  • Environmentally friendly as no chemicals are used.
